A Vision for the next generation

Lot #1 is designated on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. The property features a tablet erected by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to mark the site of the first house built by the Pilgrims. In that house on February 27th, 1621, the right of popular suffrage was exercised and Myles Standish was chosen Captain by a majority vote. On or near this site, April 21, 1621, the memorable treaty with Massasoit was made.

Leyden Preservation Group intends to develop this site as a headquarters dedicated to:

To preserve historical sites that foster a greater understanding of the unique American identity which began in the experience of the Pilgrim Fathers and the settlement of Plymouth in 1620.

To promote the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the landing of the Pilgrims in 2020, by developing a national awareness of religious liberty of America.

To promote the legacy of Pilgrim principles of freedom and liberty worldwide. We are developing resources through media, guided tours and seminars to educate on religious and civil liberties for students and adults.
